Minimally Invasive Dentistry is the philosophy and practice of primarily preventing decay formation as well as finding and treating decay as early as possible.
In order to prevent decay formation, an environment needs to be created in your mouth that is conducive to health.
The oral environment can be affected by a multitude of factors including illness, medication, diet and lifestyle.
During your treatment planning session with Dr King all of these factors will be discussed and if necessary a suitable decay prevention program will be devised to suit your specific needs. Early detection allows us to remove minimal amount of tooth structure, thus maintaining the structural integrity of the tooth and improve its long term prognosis. (Which in many cases mean saving costly Root Canal Treatments, Crowns etc.)
Tools used in micro dentistry:
Caries detection dye & Laser decay detection – For early decay diagnosis.
Magnification – Increased visibility to diagnose and monitor early decay. Provides magnified viewing during diagnosis and treatment.
Lasers - CLDC are proud to be the first surgery in Australia to use the Waterlase hard and tissue laser. Used for removing decay and preparing teeth for a tooth coloured restoration. Painless and in most cases not requiring anaesthetic.
Air Abrasion - drill free dentistry. Air abrasion uses minute “aluminium-oxide” (FDA approved) particles to prepare microscopic fillings in teeth with no pain and no injections.
