Minimally Invasive Dentistry is the philosophy and practice of primarily preventing decay formation as well as finding and treating decay as early as possible.

For longevity of your smile, the environment in your mouth must be conducive to ongoing oral health.

The oral environment can be affected by a multitude of factors including illness, medication, diet and lifestyle. During your treatment planning session with Dr King all of these factors will be discussed and if necessary a suitable decay prevention program will be devised to suit your specific needs.

Microdentistry allows for the earliest detection of potential decay, meaning only a minimal amount of tooth structure is lost in treatment of decay and preparation for a smile makeover or other treatment. This will ensure the ongoing structural integrity of the tooth and improve its long term prognosis. In many cases this means avoiding costly root canal treatments, fillings and crowns.

Our Microdentistry Equipment

  • Mounted Microscopes for enchanced magnified viewing during diagnosis and treatment.
  • Optical Loupes for increased visibility to diagnose and monitor early decay.
  • Lasers for early detection and decay removal. CLDC are proud to be the first surgery in Australia to use the Waterlase hard and soft tissue lasers, which in most cases is painless and not requires no anaesthetic.
  • Air Abrasion for drill-free dentistry. Air abrasion uses microscopic aluminium-oxide particles to prepare microscopic fillings in teeth with no pain and no injections.
  • Detection Dye can illuminate decay not visible to the naked eye, allowing for early decay diagnosis and treatment of dental caries.

Over 20 Years of Microdentistry Experience

Cosmetic & Laser Dentistry Centre has practiced the philopsophy of minimally-invasive dentistry since its foundation in 2000. We believe early intervention and highly conservative treatment should always be performed to maximise the integrity and lifespan of each tooth.

Our principal dentist Dr Yvonne King has been practitioner of microdentistry, including no-needle no-drill dentistry, laser and air-abrasion dentistry for over twenty years. She is also a recognised fellow and life-long diplomat of the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and educator of fellow dentists in this approach.
