The Benefits
of Porcelain Veneers

  1. Address Multiple Aesthetic Concerns
Dental Porcelain veneers can treat numerous aesthetic concerns simultaneously by improving the colour, shape, size, spacing and alignment of teeth.
  2. Immediate Aesthetic Improvements
Porcelain veneers can transform smiles in as little as two appointments, compared to a lengthy course of orthodontics (braces or aligners) which are unable to alter the colour or shape of teeth.
  3. Aesthetic Finishing Post-Orthodontics
Veneers can be used in combination with orthodontics for superior aesthetic results, functionality and maximal tooth preservation, which is an ideal approach to modern smile makeovers.
  4. Look and Feel Rejuvenated
Transform the entire face with a brighter, fuller and healthier- looking smile. Porcelain veneers can be used for discrete improvements or can be used to create glamorous and bold Hollywood smiles – the choice is yours.
  5. Lucious Lips: Increased Soft-Tissue Support
Veneers can improve and restore lost lip volume by pushing soft-tissues forward, creating fuller and more youthful -looking lips.
  6. Protect and Preserve Healthy Teeth
Newer biomimetic bonding materials can continue to release minerals into the teeth, keeping them healthier and stronger.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers, also known as capped teeth, are a popular cosmetic dental solution for enhancing the appearance of your smile. They are a restorative dental treatment using custom-made, very thin, tooth-shaped shells that are bonded over the top of natural teeth. The dental veneer is tooth coloured and designed to cover the front surface of the tooth to improve appearance. At CLDC, we use dental porcelain veneers on your teeth to change the shape, colour, size or length of your tooth.

Porcelain veneers are bonded to the surface of your teeth and are an effective option for improving your teeth shade, shape, and size. Many patients choose our veneers to replace existing veneers, fill gaps in their smile and cover damaged or time-worn teeth.

How Much Do Porcelain Veneers Cost?

At CLDC we offer porcelain veneer treatment plans tailored to best suit each patient’s individual smile goals and budget.

The cost of porcelain veneers in our Melbourne dental surgery can vary based on a number of factors. How much for porcelain veneers will be determined by the number of veneers required, handmade by master ceramist or machine made, and the degree of tooth preparation; whether any teeth more appropriately require a crown rather than a veneer; and any specific aesthetic features desired by the patient. Our veneers are individually designed by master ceramists in partnership with our dentists to create stunning and natural smiles personalised for each patient.

Our Porcelain Veneers Process

A gorgeous new smile can be achieved in as little as three visits with our porcelain veneers.

Consultation

In your private consultation with Dr King, you will discuss your dental concerns, smile goals, treatment options and the procedure. Our goal is to match you with the correct dental treatment that best suits your aesthetic goals, your lifestyle and your budget.  Dr King is Australia’s leading aesthetic dentist and the first in Australia to be awarded the highly regarded and prestigious degree of Masters in Aesthetic Dentistry, so you can be confident you are receiving the highest standard of care.

In some cases, we may need to take 3D scans and impressions of your tooth or use X-rays to determine the best treatment options for your dental needs. Our dentists are committed to providing a safe and friendly environment for all of our patients.

Preparation and Temporary veneers

Our dentists will perform your smile as required to create a temporary veneer over your tooth using a composite dental resin. This will give you an immediate preview of the final porcelain veneer design. This is often an exciting and emotional moment for our patients to see their newly designed smile for the first time. We will then discuss how the temporary resin veneers look and feel — making the necessary adjustments to the design based on your feedback. Preparatory work will vary depending on your smile, so this will be discussed in detail with your dentist before commencing treatment.

Once you are satisfied with the design of your veneers and new smile, we will take a scan or impression of the temporary veneers in the mouth. Our lab will recreate the custom-made porcelain veneer based on the resin design using stunning and lifelike ceramic material.

Placement of Porcelain Veneers

In your third visit, we will remove the temporary resin veneers. The new porcelain veneers will then be placed on your teeth. At this stage, you may observe the veneers in the mouth and discuss the final look and feel of your porcelain veneers. Once approved, the veneers are securely bonded to each tooth using a special dental cement and a UV curing light. After clean-up, checking your bite, comfort and speech, you are ready to enjoy life with your rejuvenated new smile.

Choosing a Porcelain Veneer Dentist:
Patient Satisfaction is Our Priority

If the appearance of your smile is important to you, we understand that selecting the right dentist for any type of restorative procedure can be intimidating. That’s why you can entrust CLDC as a practice with the most experience and knowledge in the field as possible.

Here are some questions (and our answers) that you should ask a practitioner before committing to any treatment:

How many cases have your performed?

Creating beautiful new smiles is our dedicated area of expertise. We have completed over 5,000 smile makeovers and placed over 30,000 porcelain veneers over the past 30 years.

We are leaders in cosmetic dentistry and our principal dentist, Dr King, is a keynote speaker and lecturer in minimally-invasive aesthetic dentistry around the world.

Can I see an example similar to my case?

At CLDC, we have been transforming smiles with porcelain veneers for over 30 years and have a catalogue of thousands of patient case studies on hand to share with prospective new patients.

We can likely find a case presentation similar to your own and explain which results can be predictably and safely achieved in your situation.

Do I need preparatory work prior to veneers?

A smile is only as stable as the foundations it is built on. If your teeth have untreated decay, gum disease or other issues which may compromise the longevity or either the veneer or the tooth itself, we will not be able to proceed until those conditions are addressed and stabilised.

Only after a comprehensive examination and x-rays can we determine a treatment plan which ensures your smile makeover is performed safely. The longevity, functionality and comfort of your teeth are a paramount priority alongside aesthetics.

Where are the veneers made?

At CLDC, our veneers are crafted by our master ceramists in state-of-the-art laboratories here in Melbourne. We understand that no two smiles are alike, which is why we work hand-in-hand with our ceramists to achieve ideal, personalised outcomes for every patient. We never compromise on the quality of our materials.

Designed with beauty and durability in mind, our veneers are not easily broken or chipped, giving you the confidence to enjoy your new smile and being able to eat, speak comfortably. Our porcelain veneers are made from the highest quality ceramic materials available and we do offer a range of aesthetic options which make porcelain veneers more accessible and affordable to more patients.

Should I consider orthodontics first?

The main benefit of porcelain veneers is that your smile makeover can be completed in as little as two appointments. In more complex cases, for example where teeth are severely crooked or misaligned, we will always inform our patients about the benefits of less-invasive treatment plans which have minimal impact on the health of teeth.

In some cases, we may recommend our orthodontic dental services with clear aligners to straighten the teeth prior to treatment with porcelain veneers. This will not only help protect teeth from unnecessary and irreversible preparatory damage, but can also provide superior aesthetic and functional outcomes. This is an area Dr King is passionate about and has lectured to dentists around the world about this new paradigm in aesthetic dentistry.

We will explain the pros and cons of both treatment options for you and answer all questions you may have at your consultation, so you can make a fully-informed decision about your smile makeover.

How much do porcelain veneers cost in Melbourne?

Porcelain veneers cost roughly between $1500 to $3,000 per tooth to suit more patients’ needs and budgets. The cost of porcelain veneers can vary depending on the complexity of a case and also the aesthetic features a patient desires in their new smile, such as natural translucency, shading and biomimetic features.

Our porcelain veneers require minimal or no tooth preparation which can completely transform the appearance of teeth. We were one of the first dental practices in Australia to offer the revolutionary GlamSmile porcelain veneer system – a more affordable, minimal-prep dental veneer treatment. Contact us and discover how GlamSmile veneers can be a quarter of the cost of traditional veneers.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Our porcelain veneers are made from the highest quality ceramic material. With the proper care and maintenance, many of our long-term patients continue to enjoy their porcelain veneers more than 20 years after treatment without issue, looking as bright and beautiful as the day they were first inserted. If you are interested in the different porcelain veneers treatment, please give us a call today to discuss your options.

Are porcelain veneers permanent?

Porcelain veneers are not strictly permanent — however once bonded to the teeth they can only be safely removed by a dentist. Just like natural teeth, veneers are not immune to damage or accidental damage, but with proper care they can last for decades. At CLDC, we employ a minimally-invasive approach to veneers, meaning we avoid reducing natural tooth structure as much as possible. In some cases, if teeth require significant reduction of natural tooth enamel or have considerable wear or damage prior to being veneered, then your options may limited as to whether veneers can be removed in the future and left unreplaced. In these circumstances, a dental crown may be more appropriate – which can be used in combination with veneers when designing a new smile.

Are Porcelain Veneers right or me?

Porcelain veneers are used by dentists to improve the shape, size, and colour of the teeth. For those with stained teeth due to medical conditions or lifestyle and habits, porcelain veneers are a recommended treatment. We advise getting an in-person consultation at the clinic to determine if the treatment is suitable for you. The consultation will give us a chance to assess your oral health and offer suitable treatment options.

Do my teeth need to be shaved down for veneers?

Veneers are wafer thin shells bonded to the front surface of your teeth. Your natural teeth therefore need a bit of preparation before the veneers can be placed so that they fit just right without appearing too bulky. You can rest assured that our skilled team of dentists make the treatment as minimally invasive and comfortable as possible. We will first assess your teeth to determine the amount of preparation needed to craft and place the veneers.

Is the veneer application procedure painful?

At Cosmetic and Laser Dentistry Centre, we make your treatment painless using local anaesthetic. We aim to minimise discomfort during the preparation session and while placing the veneers. The procedure will be explained to you in detail to help you feel at ease and discuss your options for a painless treatments.

How should I care for my Porcelain Veneers?

Like your natural teeth, veneers need to be brushed and flossed every day. This will keep your gums and teeth from decay and ensure they remain healthy. Regular hygiene visits to the dentist are also crucial in maintaining your veneers.

Can Porcelain Veneers be replaced?

Yes, your veneers once placed can be replaced if there is excessive wear or damage. We can replace your veneers by removing the damaged units with a laser. Bi-annual visits to the clinic will help your veneers with longevity.

Are there any risks associated with Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a safe and effective procedure. They give you a beautiful smile and aligned teeth, increased confidence, and much more. However, there is considerable risk involved when you carry out this treatment at a clinic that is not credible. The right dentist and dental clinic are key to ensuring quality veneer treatment and avoiding potential risks. If a dentist grinds down your teeth to much this could lead to root canal later on and potentially implants.

Am I good candidate for Veneers?

Veneers are ideal for every person seeking a beautiful smile. Veneers address a number of dental issues and give you the chance to flaunt a smile you love. In some cases, however, this procedure may not be recommended. How suited you are for the treatment is better determined with an in-person consultation at our clinic.

What does the Veneers procedure involve?

Your veneer treatment depends on the type of veneer you opt for. We generally offer two types – composite and porcelain.

During your appointment for veneers in Melbourne, we take photos and 3D impressions of your teeth to better understand your smile needs. We then customise the veneers based on your goals and create a 3D preview to help you envision what the smile can look like.

We then begin creating your veneers, after which we prepare your teeth for the veneers and fit them in place using a safe dental cement. While composite veneers require a single sitting, porcelain veneers may need 2 – 3 appointments.

What's the difference between porcelain and bonded (composite) veneers?

Composite veneers are created using composite resin and are created in the mouth by an experienced cosmetic dentist. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, are made using ceramic porcelain which are made by a ceramist under the dentists’ instructions and guidelines. Porcelain veneers are more expensive and slightly more invasive than composite veneers. However, both have their own benefits and offer beautiful results.

You can discuss your goals, budget, and more with our dentist to identify which of these is the right option for you.

Will my veneers look fake?

No. Veneers are carefully crafted to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth in shape, colour, and translucency. Our master ceramists focus on creating results that look authentic, so your smile feels like it’s always been yours.

Is the procedure uncomfortable?

Most patients are surprised by how gentle the process is. With modern techniques and local anaesthesia, discomfort is kept to a minimum. Any sensitivity afterwards is usually mild and temporary.

Do veneers damage my natural teeth?

A minimally invasive approach is always prioritised. Only a small amount of enamel is adjusted to ensure the veneer fits securely, while preserving the strength and health of your natural teeth.

How long will my veneers last?

Many of our patients continue to enjoy their veneers decades after treatment—some for more than 20 years—and they still look exceptional. Longevity ultimately depends on care, but with proper maintenance, porcelain veneers can remain beautiful and functional for many years.

Will people know I have veneers?

Not unless you tell them. The goal is always a natural-looking smile that complements your features, so others notice your confidence, not your dental work.
